Kids on the Block of Child and Family Tennessee is getting ready to start another school year. We saw over 15,000 learners last year and hope to see even more this year!

We want to thank all of you for making last year such a success and for being so helpful and easy to work with. We have been training hard so that we can provide you with the quality shows you deserve.

Kids on the Block of CFT was honored to be invited to so many schools in Knox, Blount, and Sevier counties last year. This year we hope to expand our services to many other schools in the East Tennessee area.

We strive to make the experience worthwhile for the teachers as well as the children. There are many ways that our programs can compliment the state requirements and curriculum standards that must be met. Take a look at How Kids on the Block fits into the Classroom and see how all the requirements are incorporated into our programs.

We are very grateful for United Way  providing Child and Family Tennessee with funding that makes it possible for us to come to your schools free-of-charge. Be sure you take advantage of any opportunity you have to support United Way. They are committed to offering a diversity of different programs that benefit many people.

We also would like to thank the Alcoa Kiwanis Club for providing a grant that will allow us to serve more schools in East Tennessee as well as buy new equipment to enhance the quality of our shows.

We can’t wait to get started and will be seeing many of you very soon!

Don’t forget to use our online web scheduler. It’s a great tool for busy teachers and administrators!

We still have openings for the fall semester, but they are filling up quickly, so schedule online or email us at kotb@childfamily.org , or give us a call at 521-5605 ext. 248 or on our KOTB cell phone 254-2247.

Sincerely,

Katie Teesdale

Program Coordinator for KOTB of CFT.

January 2007

KOTB of CFT had a very successful and busy fall semester! From October to December of 2006, we performed 113 shows for 9,442 learners in Knox, Blount and Sevier Counties!

We want to thank all of you for inviting us to your schools. We enjoyed meeting the teachers, staff and students and we had a great time! Thank you also for being so diligent about returning the evaluations and giving us such helpful feedback. We value your input and take it all into consideration as we move forward.

A special thank you to Fairgarden pre-school for the awesome thank you poster that they delivered to our office! We were out doing puppet shows when they dropped it off and didn’t get to say a personal Thanks for their thoughtfulness:

THANKS FAIRGARDEN STAFF AND STUDENTS!

October 2006

Kids on the Block of Child and Family Tennessee saw over 2000 learners in September 2006 and performed 34 shows at 15 different schools!

The topics ranged from the Kindergarten Personal
Safety show to Stereotypes/Prejudice for 5th graders.

The program has two new part time puppeteers, Melissa Lloyd and Lynanne Hodges. They have been very busy alongside their fellow puppeteer and Coordinator, Elaine Pugh and having a great time getting to know the students and faculty at the various schools. Melissa and Lynanne are fabulous additions to the Kids on the Block program. They are both very good with children as well as operating the puppets.

This is Elaine’s first semester as coordinator and fourth semester as a puppeteer. She is loving her job and hopes to be here for many years to come!
