The Kids on the Block of Child & Family Tennessee has performed for MANY years. Child & Family TN is one of thousands of troupes, across the globe, performing scripts and providing educational materials developed by the national organization:

Kids on the Block uses "hand and rod" puppets that are 3 to 4 feet tall! The "kids" vividly and effectively model relationships between people and discuss social concerns by using frank and often humorous communication of facts and feelings between the puppet characters and the audience. Children feel comfortable discussing sensitie issues, because they are friendly and non-threatening.

The research staff, at Kids on the Block, Inc., works closely with sponsoring organizations, such as Child & Family, when developing new programs and puppet characters. The development of new scripts includes extensive research on all topics; interviews with parents, children, and experts in the field; and a meticulous resource list and bibliography. Each topic is thoroughly field-tested before it becomes available to schools, community service organizations, hospitals, and special interest groups.

Child & Family TN works to keep children from developing poor coping skills, such as the use of violence, alcohol, and tobacco. The Kids on the Block scripts give children alternatives to these negative choices and teach children healthy decision-making skills.
